A week full of parties, classes, food & drink pairings and all round cocktail fun? Yes please! Where? Good news party animals and foodies, this is all happening in our very own city.
This coming week May 7th to 13th, the World Class Cocktail week is back, bigger and better than previous years. Celebrating cocktails in all their forms and featuring some serious industry talent, over 30 bars across Melbourne will be participating in this fun-filled, boozy week ahead.
We were treated to a sneak peek last night with the launch at 1806, where food was expertly matched to a series of interesting cocktails in the stunning, intimate bar space. 1806 features 3 bartenders nominated in the top 100 for World Class Cocktail week, so naturally the cocktails were exciting and interesting, pushing the boundaries of the palate in exactly the way they are meant to this coming week. For me personally, who usually sticks to my safe zone of Espresso Martinis and Negronis, it pushed my palate and exposed me to new and intriguing flavour combinations I would normally be too scared to order. And my friends, this is what next week is all about!
Featuring more than 30 events that celebrate cocktails in so many different ways, there is something for everyone next week.
If you are like me, and prefer all your booze paired with food (because lets face it, is there a greater combination?!) then check out events such as the cocktail degustation at the incredible Eau De Vie, with five courses by head chef Paul Bertheau paired with cocktails. If you haven’t yet had a cocktail at Eau De Vie, this is the week to make it your mission as they are among Melbournes’ very best.
You can even take a metaphorical holiday for a night and pretend you are somewhere exotic with cultural cocktail combos. For a Mexican flair, check out Tequila and Tapas (another awesome pairing) at Hotel Jesus, or Mexican food and cocktails at Mamasita. Feeling more of an Italian vibe and need something a little more ‘out there’ to spice up your week? Why not join Vaporetto on a boat on the Yarra River, along with a three course cocktail degustation paired with cichetti by Head Chef Greg Feck, and inspired by Venice.
Prefer to keep your food and drink separate? No worries. Indulge in cocktail specials across Melbourne at some of your favourite bars like The Noble Experiment, Black Pearl, Nieuw Amsterdam, Arbory, of course the wonderful 1806 who hosted us so well last night and many, many more.

Have a delicious day (& tipsy week ahead… stay hydrated!)
